This beautiful Friday wedding was so much fun. The location was perfect, the people were fantastic. I had so much fun on this wedding despite my initial nervousness at shooting it solo.
Learned a few important lessons… backlit subjects can still have shadow issues when they are facing a bank of glass windows/doors which are reflecting the light back. Did my best with this location to make the most of cropping, and dodging/burning those areas.
Another lesson…. might be time for a new flash. I had some issues with it misfiring, and shutting off. Same issues I experienced yesterday during a bridal shower. Going to have to do some serious upgrading before my October weddings!
And one other lesson, or more like a discovered preference… I love Black and White! I seriously thought about doing the images for this wedding in both all color and all black and white. The couple of images that I did do as black and white was mostly because of flash issues and color problems, but I ended up loving them. What do you think?
And now… without further ado…
Well, I absolutely love B&W, especially for wedding shots! I also love Sepia and de-saturated tones. In many shots, especially candid shots, lots of stuff and color in the shots can be very distracting. I end up doing many of my photos in B&W and they are almost always my favorites…
I am a huge Ansel Adams fan… which is probably why I adore that shot of winter trees that you put up the other day for Christmas Cards. Simply stunning!
The bride”s gown is amazing and she wore it beautifully! I wish them a lifetime of blessings.
Big hugs xoxo
Two thumbs up for the black and white photographs. I love black and white photography.
I think all the shots are great. I’m sure you’ll get your upgraded flash soon. I hate it when equipment doesn’t work like it’s supposed to.
Have a terrific day. Hugs.
